Backyard Camping – the Ultimate Staycation

Posted by Jennifer on 5/21/2014
It seems like it should be easy enough. You go out in your backyard and sleep overnight. But backyard camping does require a little bit of planning if you want to have a fun and adventurous time. Here are a few simple ideas that can make backyard camping a memorable time for both kids and adults:

  • Get a tent.
  • If you don’t have one, and don’t want to invest in one, then see if you know someone that could let you borrow one.
  • Use insect repellent.
  • Be sure to pick up insect repellant at your local store. If you prefer, there are many chemical-free products on the market or you could create your own bug repellents naturally.
  • The essentials.
  • Sleeping bags, pillows and an air mattress (if you have one) should be set up before dark. Make sure you put a flashlight in the tent as well.
  • Don’t forget the food.
  • Have an outdoor dinner in your bathing suits. Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs are always fun. You could also take advantage of being outside and have something really messy – like barbequed ribs. Big juicy slices of watermelon are a perfect way to finish dinner and can also taste great when grilled. Be sure your grill is clean by using your favorite Grill Daddy brush.

  • Ready! Set! Go!
  • Play yard games such as freeze-tag, volleyball, badminton. When it starts to become dark break out the glow sticks or sparklers.
  • Around the fire.
  • Set up a campfire for making s’mores, telling ghost stories or singing songs. Use your Grill Daddy King Tong Pro and your Grill Daddy BBQ Camping kit to be sure everyone is safe and the food tastes great!

  • Look up!
  • Checking out the stars and looking at the constellations is a really great way to learn more about our universe – and it’s a lot of fun!
